THE WHITEBOARD SESSION

You can't solve what you haven't fully examined.

Solving the wrong problem exceptionally well still leaves you with a problem.

The business owner sees a revenue problem. The executive sees a leadership problem. The board sees an operational problem.

Sometimes they're all looking at different symptoms of the same situation. You can spend time, money, and resources addressing what appears to be the problem, only to discover that the real issue was somewhere else.

Or you can put the business on the table, see how the pieces connect, and determine what actually needs to happen.

We map it. Take it apart.
Put it back together with direction.

This is not a presentation, a generic coaching session, or somebody else's playbook. It's your business, examined on its own terms.

Start with your question.

Bring a challenge, opportunity, ambition, or decision. We begin where you are.

Make the business visible.

We map the people, assets, revenue, relationships, structures, and operating realities.

Challenge the assumptions.

We uncover underlying issues, missed connections, constraints, and potential paths.

Establish the direction.

We identify the decisions, priorities, and recommended next actions, then document the work.

The conversation is only the beginning.

Every Whiteboard Session includes a written Strategic Advisory Report. Not simply a transcript or notes from our conversation, but an assessment developed specifically around your business.

  • Executive strategic assessment
  • Key findings and underlying issues
  • Recommended direction and priorities
  • Sequenced plan of action
  • Further work and implementation considerations

Report content and length follow the agreed scope and complexity. Standard engagements target delivery within ten business days.

Before we begin: the agreed scope determines the business context and background information to provide for the included pre-session review. Bring the situation, the objective, and the questions you need to examine. Any further document requirements are agreed directly.

Different businesses.
The same discipline.

Owner-led business

From more customers to a broader business model.

A beauty business owner came in seeking more makeup clients and approximately $500 in daily revenue. The strategic examination expanded to studio assets, group services, education, partnerships, and complementary revenue streams.

Deliverable: A ten-page Strategic Advisory Memo with a 90-day business development plan.

Multi-company enterprise

From ten companies to a connected enterprise.

An enterprise operating at approximately $2 million in revenue was exploring a ten-year path toward a $25 million objective. A four-hour session examined the relationships and structure of ten companies.

Deliverable: A 30-page strategic report with restructuring recommendations and a ten-year growth direction.

Engagement examples describe the examination and deliverables. Stated revenue targets are client objectives, not verified financial outcomes or guarantees.

Three ways to begin.

Every option includes strategic work with JR Byrd Strategic Partners and a written Strategic Advisory Report. Sessions are currently led by J. Richard Byrd. The difference is the scope of the examination, not the level of thinking.

The strategy stands on its own.

You may use the report with your own team, advisers, or vendors. Every session format includes the listed 30-minute clarification conversation. If further advisory, coordination, or implementation work is appropriate, the firm can propose a separate scope. You are not obliged to engage us for that work.

There is no obligation to engage us for implementation.

Experience changes what you see.

Nearly four decades spanning executive leadership, enterprise development, marketing, media, entertainment, and organizational growth inform a way of thinking that looks for connections across the entire business.

“We operate at the intersection of what an organization has become and what it needs to become next.”

A few important questions.

Do I need to know exactly what my problem is?

No. Bring a question, challenge, opportunity, or direction you want to explore. Understanding the actual issue is part of the work.

Is this only for large businesses?

No. Owner-led businesses, growing organizations, and complex enterprises can benefit. Your situation determines the scope.

Will I receive something in writing?

Yes. Every session includes a customized Strategic Advisory Report with findings, recommendations, and an action plan.

How soon will I get my report?

Standard engagements target delivery within ten business days after the session. Enterprise timelines are established separately.

Are sessions limited to the exact scheduled hours?

The time frames establish the intended working format. The priority is substantive strategic work, with significant scope changes agreed separately.

Do I have to hire the firm for implementation?

No. The Whiteboard Session is a complete, self-contained strategic engagement.

You already know there's something that needs to happen.

Bring the question. We'll determine the appropriate engagement format and examine what your business needs to become next.

Nothing powerful operates alone.
